The Trans Teen and Family Narratives (TTFN) Project is led by Dr. Sabra L. Katz-Wise (she/her), an Associate Professor in Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, and in Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Katz-Wise also co-directs the Harvard SOGIE Health Equity Research Collaborative.  Dr. Katz-Wise has a long history of research and advocacy with trans youth and their families.

Our whole team is based at Boston Children’s Hospital, in the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine. The team includes trans people, nonbinary people, queer cisgender people, and allies. We started this project with a community-based study, in which we interviewed and surveyed trans teens and their families every 6 months across 2 years to learn about their experiences and support needs. Take a look at our website for more information about the TTFN Project!

The TTFN Project was funded by grants from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development (K99R00HD082340) and the Boston Children’s Hospital Aerosmith Endowment Fund for Prevention and Treatment of AIDS and HIV Infections, awarded to Dr. Katz-Wise. We would like to thank the trans young adults who created the videos for this project; StoryCenter for facilitating the creation of the videos; the trans youth, parents/caregivers, siblings, and mental health providers who contributed ideas for this toolkit; and the scientific advisory board and community members who provided feedback.
